Event Description
Kidical Mass is a growing worldwide movement where people of all ages take to the streets on their cycles to protest about the lack of safe space for cyclists.
We’ll meet at 9.45 am at Hungate Reading Café for a 10 am start. We’ll be taking a highly visible route through the City, including a stop by the Minster – full details will be available in advance.
We’ll finish at Millenium Bridge for a chance to socialise and picnic. You are welcome to join us whatever your age and whatever type of cycle you have. Cargo bikes, recumbent and adapted cycles, cycles with trailers and tag-alongs and unusual cycles are particularly welcome! Fancy dress, decorated cycles, flags, banners, balloons, bells, whistles, horns, streamers, and speakers are strongly encouraged.
Whilst you ride at your own risk (NB all children under 16 need to be accompanied by an adult who remains responsible for them at all times) the ride will be marshalled.
Do get in touch if you’d like to marshal, it’s a fun way to get more involved and we need more volunteers! We’ll shortly be contacting those who have recently or previously expressed an interest. Or if you would like to advertise an unmarshalled (cruise in company) feeder ride from the north/east or west of York, e.g. from Acomb via the Foss Islands path, please get in touch: yorkcyclecampaign@gmail.com
