Morsbags! – Shopping bags from recycled fabrics

Event Description

Enjoy a day of sewing in this relaxed, one-day workshop. Save money and help the environment by making a reusable, original, recycled, washable, strong morsbag that will last for years…

Hopefully this will be your first of many. You can make it as a gift for a friend or keep the one you make on the day & make more at home for friends, family, colleagues or even unsuspecting strangers. Beware – it’s addictive!

Take your new morsbag shopping, you won’t forget this one! Stash some in the car, in your bike basket and in your handbag. You’ll never be morsbagless again!

Morsbags can be made from any fabric……. from new scraps to recycled treasures. Do you have a guilty stash of fabric that hasn’t been used for 25 years? Inherited old bedding that you don’t need? Even hideous fabrics look fantastic reincarnated as morsbags. For example, an old single duvet cover may be unsellable in a charity shop due to one small hole or a dodgy pattern, but discard the holes & broken buttons and at least six morsbags can be made. Hurrah! Have a rummage.

There will be fabric available at the workshop, but please bring along any fabrics you may have at home. Please bring along a basic sewing kit if you have one (scissors, pins, tape measure etc).

If you require a push to start machine due to mobility difficulties, as opposed to a foot operated machine, please let us know at the point of enrolment.

Refreshments are not provided, but there is a lovely café on site if you want tea, coffee or lunch. For further information on the worldwide ‘Morsbag’ project visit morsbags.com.
