There’s much agreement that homes built with and by communities are most likely to be better built for the future. So why don’t we see more? Rebecca Carr (Ophouse) & James Neward (Yorspace) describe the lengthy paths to building for themselves, and Phil Bixby relives the story of the Holgate Park Young People’s Self Build project from 2002. If we want communities to be part of building a sustainable future how might we remove the roadblocks?
