District Energy, Domestic Heating and Decarbonising York

Event Description

How do we decarbonise York? Domestic heating is a major source of carbon emissions but how can we cut emissions and stay warm? And how much is all this going to cost?

Anthony Day, presenter of the Sustainable Futures Report podcast, introduces three specialists to discuss solutions.

Peter Garforth, international energy consultant, explains how York could follow similar communities in Europe and North America which have implemented district energy and district heating.

Andy Walker of Sure Insulation, author of the Haynes Manual of Home Insulation, advocates saving money and cutting carbon by stopping heat from escaping.

Kenneth Campbell, director of the Energy Efficiency Awards, reviews the challenge to the industry and the feasibility of carrying out the necessary work in the necessary timescale.

There will be an opportunity to ask questions during the event, but if you have any beforehand please submit them via the “contact the organiser” link.
